Victoria Lessard, an employment recruiter for Kelly Services, appeared as a guest speaker for our College’s weekly student meeting. Victoria shared that she was a past student of Academy of Learning College and has been in the staffing field for 20 years.
Kelly Services offers their support free to job seekers. This covers a variety of occupations including, but not limited to, productions, sales, office administration, IT and healthcare.
To get started with Kelly services, simply visit their website at www.kellyservices.ca and begin building your profile, an online resume of sorts. The database then matches your profile to available jobs. Make sure you are honest in your profile so they find appropriate matches for you, especially regarding the number of years of experience and levels of skills you have and the salary you expect. If the database matches you to a position and you are not interested, you can turn down that position; there are no penalties for doing so.
If there is any testing required for available positions, it would be done remotely at home. No more stressful on-the-spot testing at an office or interview.
Most of their positions are temporary positions. The best way is to look at these positions as opportunities. Victoria stated that if you are asked to come in and work an 8 hour day, you have an 8 hour experiential interview to prove to the employer that you deserve part time or even a full time job with them. This is also the perfect chance to network, make valuable career connections and put those skills learned at Academy of Learning College to work!
